Privacy Policy

Summary: Your work never leaves your phone unless you send it somewhere. There are no accounts and no Workpiece servers. Your photos, voice notes, clips, and project notes stay on your phone; we can't see them. The app sends us only anonymous usage statistics that can't identify you, and you can turn those off in Settings. When you share a piece or send a listing to a shop platform you've connected, it goes directly from your phone to the place you chose, never through us.

1. Who we are: Workpiece is made by Lathe & Lumber Woodworks, LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains how the Workpiece iOS app and this website (workpiece.app) handle information.

2. Your content stays on your device:  Everything you create in Workpiece- projects, photos, voice notes, transcripts, short clips, and written notes- is stored locally on your phone, in the app's private storage. We don't operate servers that receive your content; there are no accounts, and we cannot access, view, or recover what you make. Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

3. Anonymous usage statistics: Workpiece sends us anonymous, aggregated usage signals (for example, which features get used and anonymous crash and performance summaries) through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These signals are not linked to your identity and never include your content; no photos, no recordings, no project names, no notes, no text you write. This is the only data the app sends us; it's disclosed in the App Store privacy label, and you can turn it off any time in Settings → Privacy.

4. Photos and editing: Photo editing happens entirely on your device and is non-destructive: your originals are preserved, and editing never alters your device's Photos library.

5. Camera Roll backup (optional): If you turn on Camera Roll backup, Workpiece saves a copy of photos you capture in the app to your device's Photos library, so they survive even if you delete the app. These copies are yours to manage in Photos. Photos you import into the app are not copied back.

6. Voice notes and transcription: Voice notes are recorded and stored on your device. Transcription runs on-device; your audio and transcripts are not sent to us or to any third party.

7. Caption drafting (on supported devices): On iPhones that support it, Workpiece can draft a caption using Apple's on-device intelligence. This runs on your device; your content is not sent to us for this feature.

8. Sharing: When you choose to share a piece, Workpiece prepares the content on your device, including removing location and other identifying photo metadata, and hands it off to the app you pick. From that point, the receiving app and its platform handle the content in accordance with their own policies. We don't receive what you share.

9. Connected shop platforms (Etsy, Squarespace, Shopify): If you connect a shop platform, Workpiece signs you in through that platform's own authorization flow and keeps the resulting credential securely on your device; we never see your platform password or hold your credential on any server. When you send a listing, the content you chose (photos, title, description, price, and listing details) travels directly from your phone to that platform only when you tap Send and is then governed by that platform's terms and privacy policy. Listings are created as drafts; nothing is published without you. Our sign-in redirect page (oauth.workpiece.app) is a stateless, static page that stores no data. "Etsy" is a trademark of Etsy, Inc.; this application uses Etsy's API but is not endorsed or certified by Etsy. "Squarespace" and "Shopify" are trademarks of their respective owners; Workpiece is not endorsed by or affiliated with them.

10. Device backups: Your Workpiece data is included in your iPhone's own backup (iCloud or computer), so a restored phone keeps your journal. That backup is yours, under your Apple account; it never passes through us.

11. Purchases: If you buy a subscription in the app, Apple processes the purchase through the App Store under Apple's policies. Your plan is verified on your device; Workpiece runs no purchase servers. We receive only aggregated, non-identifying sales information from Apple. We never see your payment details.

12. Exporting your work: You can export any build as a standard archive to the Files app on your device or to your own iCloud Drive. Exports are prepared entirely on your device and are saved only where you choose; they never pass through us. Exported photos are your originals, captured exactly, including any location data your camera recorded, so treat exports as the private backups they are.

13. This website: workpiece.app is a marketing site hosted on Squarespace. It runs no advertising trackers and sets no non-essential cookies. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit. Squarespace, our form provider, processes them, and we use them only to respond to you. We don't sell this information or use it for marketing. Our sign-in redirect page at oauth.workpiece.app is hosted on Vercel; like any web host, Vercel may process standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.

14. Children: Workpiece is not directed to children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

15. Your choices and rights: Anonymous statistics can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. Because the app holds no personal data about you, there's typically nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our end. For anything you've sent through the contact form, email hello@workpiece.app and we'll delete it on request.

16. Changes: If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a revised effective date.
